Phu Quoc has something for everyone. Whether you're looking to party on the beach or immerse yourself in natural surrounds with nothing but the sounds of nature, you're sure to find a hotel, hostel, or homestay to suit your needs.
In 2019 I have started using Kiwi.com to book my flights and accommodation. It's a conveient platform with competitive rates.
South Duong Dong - Central West Phu Quoc
Most of the action takes place north and south of Duong Dong city center located central west of Phu Quoc island. Đường Trần Hưng Đạo is the main road south of the Duong Dong river and where you'll find the majority of Phu Quoc hotels, hostels, and some homestays.
The central location of Duong Dong makes it easy to travel to the north and south on day trips to explore Phu Quoc Island. There are plenty of places to hire a scooter or book a tour.
The main road is also where you'll find many bars, restaurants, and shops. Đường Trần Hưng Đạo has a thriving nightlife with plenty of beach bars and clubs open till late.
While a fair bit is going on in Duong Dong, you can find some quiet places to stay. From the Long Beach Center south to where Đường Trần Hưng Đạo meets Cửa Lấp - Suối Mây you'll discover many beachfront resorts away from the bars and clubs. There are plenty of fantastic seafood restaurants on this stretch, so you can still find plenty of food options within walking distance of your hotel.
Duong Dong is also an excellent area for nomads who like to be close to the action. You can find plenty of Airbnbs offering long term rentals at affordable rates, and along Đường Trần Hưng Đạo road there are many coffee shops and cafes to work from during the day. Most coffee shops stay open until 10 or 11 pm. Find my best coffee shops in Duong Dong here.
North Duong Dong - Central West Phu Quoc
Immediately to the north of the Duong Dong river lies Duong Dong City Center. The city is surprisingly big and bustling day and night. On the southern bank of the Duong Dong River is where you'll find the famous Phu Quoc Night Market.
There are some hotels and hostels in Duong Dong City, but be prepared for lots of noise. If you want to be close to the city, I would suggest staying in Khu 7 north of the Võ Văn Kiệt pier. Most of the accommodation in this area are homestays, which you can book through Airbnb.
Ong Lang - Central Northwest Phu Quoc
Ong Lang is another popular part of Phu Quoc but less touristy than Duong Dong. This part of the island is where you'll find some of the best Phu Quoc hotels. Ong Lang beach is also stunning, and there are some stretches where you'll find few, if any, people.
You'll find plenty of incredible seafood restaurants around Ong Lang, while many of the resorts offer al-a-carte menus right on the beach.
Cửa Cạn (Cua Can) - Central Northwest Phu Quoc
Just north of Ong Lang is Cua Can. The hotels and homestays in Cua Can are spread out, offering a more private and peaceful stay. Cua Can is also a stone's throw from Phu Quoc National Park, Vinpearl Safari, and Vinpearl Land.
Gành Dầu (Ganh Dau) - Northwest Phu Quoc
On the northwest tip of Phu Quoc lies Ganh Dau. Most of Ganh Dau is a forest that makes up Vinpearl Safari Park. You'll also find Vinpearl Land amusement park, a great place to take the kids.
Vinpearl Land is currently undergoing a massive upgrade with new amusement rides, rollercoasters, and a waterpark due to open in 2020.
The best place to stay in Ganh Dau is the Vinpearl Phu Quoc resort. The magnificent resort offers luxury accommodation, an 18-hole golf course, restaurants, bars, spas, pools, a private beach, kids play areas, and access to Vinpearl Land and Vinpearl Safari Park. Expect to pay upwards of $400 per night to stay at Vinpearl Phu Quoc resort.
North of Vinpearl Phu Quoc resort is mũi Gành Dầu where you'll find more affordable accommodation. Chuồng Víc is another beautiful part of the island where you'll find a handful of luxury Phu Quoc Hotels on the beach.
East of Chuồng Víc, on the other side of the Vinpearl Safari Park, is the famous Starfish Beach. There isn't any accommodation here, but there are lots of seafood restaurants on the beach, and it's a beautiful part of the island to hang out during the day.
Bãi Thơm (Bai Thom) - Northeast Phu Quoc
Bai Thom lies in the Northeast of Phu Quoc. If you travel by ferry to Phu Quoc, you'll arrive at the Mui Da Chong pier in Bai Thom.
Accommodation is sparse on this part of the island, but you're looking for some peace, Bai Thom is going to be your best option. On the border of Bai Thom lies the Phu Quoc National Park. For those who prefer to stay in natural surroundings, you'll find homestays in the rural area and forests around the park.
Hàm Ninh (Ham Ninh) - East Phu Quoc
If you're more into sunrise than sunset, then Ham Ninh is the place to be. Bến tàu (Ben Tau) pier is another landing for the ferry from Ha Tien.
To the north, you have Cây Sao (Cay Sao) with several resorts and homestays. From Cay Sao, you can also go on walks in the forest. There are some restaurants in Cay Sao, but for the most part, its quiet on this part of Phu Quoc island.
Near the Ben Tau pier, you'll find several homestays and guest houses.
An Thới (An Thoi) - South Phu Quoc
An Thoi is the southern region of Phu Quoc home to the famous Sao Beach and Phu Quoc Cable Car.
If you're looking for affordable long term accommodation on Phu Quoc, An Thoi is the best place to start your search. An Thoi is somewhat quiet in comparison to the rest of the island but still has an abundance of great restaurants and beautiful beaches.
There is a mix of hotels, hostels, and homestays in An Thoi, and the prices are generally lower than the northern parts of Phu Quoc.
Đường Bào (Duong Bao) - Central Southwest Phu Quoc
Duong Bao is another place where you will find some of the best Phu Quoc hotels, including the famous Novotel Phu Quoc Resort and InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort.
Duong Bao is currently undergoing a massive upgrade with a new shopping mall, apartments, and hotels. One of the biggest nightlife attractions in Duong Bao is the Phu Quoc Sailing Club. Just north of the Sailing Club is the site for the 11-day Epizode Festival held over New Year's Eve.
Duong Bao is one of the most expensive areas to stay in Phu Quoc, but it's incredibly beautiful with luxurious amenities.
